What is a vampire facial?

The vampire facial is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure designed to improve certain imperfections and help patients achieve more youthful, healthier skin overall. A vampire facial utilizes two proven skin rejuvenation techniques – microneedling and PRP therapy – to boost the effects and longevity of the treatment. Some of the most common concerns that can be addressed or corrected with a vampire facial include:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Rough skin texture
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Dull skin
  • Sagging or crepe-like skin
  • Large pores
  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Age spots
  • Acne scars

During a vampire facial at Med Spa at Seena One (Corrective Skin Care)in Burleson, TX, patients will lie comfortably in one of our private, state-of-the-art treatment rooms. One of our qualified and experienced technicians or aestheticians will begin by drawing a small amount of blood from your arm and placing it into a centrifuge, where it will be separated to isolate the platelet-rich plasma, or PRP. While this is taking place, the provider will perform microneedling on the patient’s face, which involves puncturing the skin with a handheld microneedling pen. These micro-injuries trigger the body’s natural healing response, resulting in the generation of new, healthy skin cells and collagen production.

The most notable component of the vampire facial is that it involves the use of platelet-rich plasma, which is extracted from the patient’s own blood, to stimulate the growth of fresh skin cells and collagen, dramatically enhancing the results of the procedure. Because the PRP is derived from the patient’s blood, the risk of adverse or allergic reaction is virtually zero. Once the microneedling portion of the procedure has been completed, the technician will administer PRP therapy by applying the prepared platelet-rich plasma serum over the treatment area and allowing it to absorb fully before finally cleansing the skin.

Following the treatment, patients should expect some redness, swelling, or bruising, though these symptoms are usually mild and resolve within a few days. Your provider will likely recommend that you avoid sun exposure, wearing makeup, and physical exercise for about 72 hours following treatment. Vampire facial results, typically, begin to appear about two weeks after the procedure, with the final outcome continuing to develop over the next several weeks or months.

What is a vampire facelift?

Similar to a vampire facial, the vampire facelift involves combining PRP therapy with another cosmetic treatment to treat a variety of age-related skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, tired-looking skin, scars, and more. However, a vampire facelift has several important differences when compared to the vampire facial.

A vampire facelift also begins with a blood draw from the patient’s arm. The blood will again be separated in a centrifuge to isolate the PRP. In the meantime, one of our highly experienced injectors will carefully and strategically use injectable dermal fillers – such as JUVÉDERM® – to restore lost volume in the face, effectively building up a more youthful, refreshed, and appealing facial structure for the PRP to work with. Finally, the patient’s platelet-rich plasma will be injected near the filler sites, where it will begin working to stimulate the production of collagen, new skin cells, and more. While patients will enjoy an immediate improvement in the contour of their face, thanks to the dermal filler injections, the full effects of a vampire facelift may take several weeks or months to develop as the PRP growth factors continue to help build healthy, younger, firmer skin.

Should I get a vampire facial or a vampire facelift?

While both procedures can produce stunning results, each has its own unique set of characteristics and benefits that may make one or the other more appropriate for you, depending on your specific concerns, goals, and other factors. The easiest way to determine whether vampire facial, facelift, or another treatment, can help you best achieve your ultimate aesthetic goals is to be evaluated by a knowledgeable, experienced, and qualified provider.
