Men and women who want to improve their skin tone and texture are typically great candidates for PRP therapy. It promotes collagen production naturally and can be a fantastic treatment option if you have dull, tired-looking skin, rough skin texture, or fine lines and wrinkles. Talk to Dr. Anees if you have any blood disorders, skin conditions, or anemia to ensure that it is safe for you to receive PRP therapy.
After you are comfortably seated in one of our private treatment areas, a small amount of blood will be taken from your arm and placed in a centrifuge machine. Usually, we draw around four tablespoons or one vial of blood. After approximately 15 minutes in the centrifuge machine, the components of the blood separate and are then ready to be injected. We will load your condensed plasma into a syringe and inject it into the treatment areas of your face. The procedure usually only takes around five minutes but can vary from patient to patient.
What to Expect
Plasma from PRP therapy naturally promotes collagen production and elastin to reveal tauter, more youthful-looking skin. As it uses your own blood, there is no risk of allergic or adverse reactions. You should expect your face to be slightly red after treatment as a few red blood cells are included in the plasma injection. Cold packs can be applied to the injection area to ease any discomfort and swelling. Dr. Anees generally recommends receiving treatments in 4 – 6-week intervals to maintain results.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does PRP therapy cost?
The cost of PRP therapy will be based on the area being treated and whether it is performed with another cosmetic treatment. During your consultation, we will provide you will a cost estimate and discuss our convenient payment options.
How long do results from PRP therapy last?
While the results of PRP therapy tend to improve over 2 – 3 months following treatment, the effects have been known to last about 1 – 2 years. The results will vary in every patient and will depend on the area being treated. The benefit of this treatment is that it does not require surgery or a long recovery period and is cost-effective.
What are the risks and complications of PRP therapy?
The risks for PRP by itself are very mild and include temporary swelling and bruising. If you receive PRP therapy with microneedling, potential risks include skin infection, pigment changes, and delayed healing. To minimize any risks and complications, it is important to have PRP therapy and microneedling performed by a skilled practitioner who has studied the process.
Will PRP help replenish volume?
PRP therapy does not increase volume in areas, like your lips and cheeks. Although PRP injections offer impressive results since the process rejuvenates the skin and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, PRP treatments are not meant to increase volume. If you want to contour areas of the face, you may be a better candidate for dermal fillers.
Is PRP therapy painful?
Injections of PRP serum feel like a BOTOX® or dermal filler injection with the additional step of extracting the plasma. Usually, clients will feel a little pinch or pressure during the injection. If you are concerned about pain or discomfort, talk with our team about receiving local anesthesia for your procedure.
PRP treatments can leave your skin looking healthier and brighter than ever while producing a glowing, beautiful appearance.
